We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 8th Workshop on Spray Application Techniques in Fruit Growing, to be held in Barcelona-Lleida, Spain from June 29th until July 1st, 2005.
Fruit crops and vineyards are widespread, especially in the Mediterranean countries and they need frequent spray applications. New safety and environmental requirements are being developed as a consequence of a higher public concern on hazardous effects of plant protection products. Thus, it is becoming more and more important to search for new application techniques that can improve the efficiency of spray applications maintaining at the same time the necessary efficacy for a sustainable crop production. The workshops on Spray Application in Fruit Growing having been organized since 1991 have always served as a platform for open discussion between the researchers, manufacturers as well as policy-makers involved in fruit growing, crop protection, application technology and environmental issues.

Participants are asked to show their latest works on this subject and share their knowledge with their colleagues and all those involved in tree crop spraying (fruit growers, sprayer manufacturers, adviser and regulatory bodies).
After very successful 7th Workshop, organized in June 2003 by the University of Turin and held in Cuneo – Italy, another European leader in fruit production, Spain, is going to host the 8th Workshop in 2005. The meeting will be organized jointly by the research units of the commonly recognized reputation in the area of fruit growing: Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Universitat de Lleida and Departament d’Agricultura, Ramaderia i Pesca from Generalitat de Catalunya.
Spain with its long tradition in fruit growing and hospitality has much to offer to combine experts’ meeting and entertainment. The comprehensive scientific program and the professional tours promise to make this Workshop and unforgettable experience.
Following the policy of the previous workshops the cost of participation will be kept at the lowest possible level. This is to be achieved with very much appreciated aid of sponsors.

Publication:
The Book of Abstracts will be provided to all participants at the registration desk during the Workshop.
The Proceedings of the Workshop with the papers of those interested in publishing their presentations will be printed and sent to the participants after the meeting. Manuscripts should be formatted according to the specific instructions.
Instructions for Papers and Posters
Manuscripts in PDF Format (.pdf), maximum 8 pages, shall be formatted according to the instructions. Click on the EXAMPLE to see the required form. They shall be submitted by e-mail or as a CD-ROM copy to the Workshop Secretary before June 29th 2005.
Posters shall have a maximum size of 0.80 m (width) x 1.20 m (height). Those who present a poster will have to deliver it at the Workshop’s registration.
Fees:
Normal rate 220€
Student rate 100€
To register for the Workshop, please fill the REGISTRATION FORM (available in the attached file) and post it or send it by fax to the Workshop Secretary enclosing a copy of your payment. Please do not charge to us the bank costs for the transfer.
The normal rate includes all bus transfers, coffee breaks, Welcome Cocktail, 3 lunches and the Workshop Dinner and one copy of the Book of Abstracts and of the Workshop Proceedings.
The student rate includes the bus transfers for the technical visits, coffee breaks and one copy of the Book of Abstracts and the Workshop Proceedings .
If you come accompanied and your companion would like to come to the Official Workshop dinner you should pay 60€ extra for it.
